Guelra | Maria Inés Villasmil is a dance performance at gnration in Braga, in the Minho region of northern Portugal. Born of a residency at gnration, the Venezuelan artist Maria Inés Villasmil builds the piece out of body research, field walks, urban wanderings and informal exchanges with the people who live in the city. Dance is the main language, tracing how history, architecture and movement collide, while the sound — built from field recordings, processed voice and ambient noise — acts as a co-creator that draws the sensory landscape of the project. It is part of Guelra, the transdisciplinary creation laboratory run by Arte Total since 2012: a space for encounter, experimentation and dialogue between art, city and community. Rooted in urban life and memory, it explores the relationship between body, space and dance as expressions of collective memory, and develops in an artistic residency that ends in a final public presentation. Our Braga apartments make a comfortable, central base for the evening, letting you enjoy the performance and the city and return to a quiet, restful night close to everything.

Getting There
gnration is at Praça Conde de Agrolongo, in central Braga. Braga has a central train station with direct trains from Porto and good motorway links. From the centre, the venue is an easy walk or a short taxi ride.
